Mercure Wien City

We arrived early from the airport and could check in ahead of time by joining the free loyalty program. Otherwise, early check-in would have cost €30. They were also willing to hold our luggage if we didn’t want to join or pay. The location was good for a reasonable price, and the rooms were nice. A few small things were inconvenient: the reading lamp didn’t work, the charging port by the bed was broken, and the thermostat seemed ineffective. I turned it off because I prefer a cooler room, but it stayed above 70°F even with 32°F outside. Free WiFi required joining the loyalty program. There’s a self-serve coffee machine in the lobby. I didn’t try lunch.

We stayed four nights and loved it. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly. Trams are about 200 meters away, and it’s roughly a 10-minute walk into the center. Lovely hotel, and we’d definitely stay again if we came back.

The staff were very kind, polite and helpful, and the location was convenient, fairly close to the city center. Breakfast had plenty of savory food but fewer sweet options. For the rather high price, the available services felt limited. There’s no restaurant or option to dine at the hotel, and no gym or spa. The TV only had German channels, which limited choices for international guests. The rooms were quite small for what we’d expect of a four-star hotel. It was an acceptable stay, but there’s room to improve.

The front desk team were so welcoming, and the service and location were excellent. I felt a little cold, but reception and the technical staff kindly brought me an extra heater. Thank you!
