Gästehaus Härb

The owners live at this quiet, well-kept, family-run guesthouse and are incredibly welcoming. Their staff member Hannelore was just as friendly and dedicated. We got along very well with the other guests, and couples looking to relax would find it ideal. Our room had a balcony with stunning panoramic lake views. From the guesthouse, there's direct access to the private beach, with its neat lawn, lovely landscaping, and sun loungers. A wooden boardwalk leads to the water. We highly recommend staying here and would definitely come back.

The location is very good, right by the lake, and I especially want to thank Hannelore for taking such good care of us. The room had been renovated recently. They coated the old bathroom tiles with a new finish, and removed the old floors in the bathroom and bedroom, applying a light-colored synthetic coating straight onto the screed. I don't particularly like how that floor looks, though it should be easy to maintain and clean. The shower has a high, wide step that's hard to get over for older guests or anyone with limited mobility. The mattresses also need replacing when they can. They're not soft, they're simply at the end of their usable life.

We had a spacious room with a balcony facing the lake, and there was parking on the property. The lawn and its jetty by the lake were especially lovely. Mrs. Hannelore looks after the rooms and breakfast and always has a useful tip. Several restaurants are only a few minutes away by car.

It's a clean, lovely place, and the owners and Hannelore are very friendly and welcoming. Dogs are allowed, but be cautious. The resident dog, Bruno, a Labradoodle, is incredibly sweet and got along well with my French Bulldog and Shih Tzu mix. On our last day, a family friend of the Härb family arrived by boat with a dog that wasn't compatible with other dogs. I didn't see them coming. That dog immediately attacked ours, then Bruno attacked our dog and us. We and our dog were hurt. I was bitten on the hand, my friend was scratched on the back while trying to grab our dog, and our dog ended up with a bloody ear and a sore, scratched back. We were holding our dog and trying to separate them, but neither owner came to help and their dogs were left unattended. Nobody apologized to me. The stay would have deserved five stars if not for this incident, which came from carelessness and a laissez-faire attitude. If you're bringing a dog, check with the owners beforehand about when known incompatible dogs will be visiting off leash, or come without one.
