Appartementhaus Brunnenhof

Clean place, great skiing, and lovely apres ski bars. We had an awesome time.

The place has a modern, rustic look, and the quality of things seems high. It was clean and had what we needed, but the apartment felt as though nobody was properly looking after it. A lot of the problems seem easy to fix, maybe by going through the rooms with a screwdriver, but they made our weekend frustrating for the money we paid. The first thing you notice is a strong, unpleasant smell in the entrance. We couldn't tell if it was burnt plastic or stale smoke, and it hit us every time we came and went. We hadn't received the guest information in advance either. The landlord was reachable and sent us a photo of it on a screen. The QR code in place of an information folder is generally fine, though I wonder how international guests without internet are meant to use it. We found a handwritten Wi-Fi password, but the code was wrong, so it should really be clearly written out. There were several small maintenance issues: the light switches behaved strangely, the light above the table switched itself off once, and one spotlight over the couch flickered. The bathroom handle wasn't screwed on properly and sometimes came off. The showerhead rail also wasn't secured, so adjusting the height pulled the whole rail out of its holder. My bed had a slightly musty smell, like laundry left wet too long, perhaps from the mattress or pillow. The round dining table was so wobbly that drinks spilled whenever we touched it. That might sound petty, but it was the only table, and we were cooking for ourselves. We managed to steady it somewhat with bark. The kitchen was otherwise well equipped, but the dishwasher had no salt or rinse aid, there was no dish soap, and extra garbage bags would've helped. At night, the living room, which is also the kitchen, was very bright. The couch was one of our sleeping places, and the kitchen window had no curtains while the outside light couldn't be switched off. The landlord suggested covering the lights with a piece of wood, but that didn't work well and looked odd for other guests too. One of us had trouble sleeping.

Apartment 1 was just as lovely as Apartments 2 and 3, with a big bathroom, a handy separate toilet, and a roomy entrance for shoes and heavy jackets. The living and dining area is stylish and has everything you need. We played games and stayed up drinking around the large round table, and nothing spilled. The seating around it is very comfortable, and the beds and mattresses are fantastic. Brunnenhof is tastefully and carefully furnished inside and out. Everything was clean and well maintained, and the landlord was friendly and easy to communicate with. The information was easy to find or available in an app, which was especially helpful for my international friends.
