Hotel Garni Melanie

Our stay included bus tickets, which was handy since the ride into Salzburg takes about 30 minutes. I recommend taking the bus. The king room and bathroom were huge.

Breakfast was divine, and when I went down at 09:00 on the first morning, fresh eggs and a new bowl of muesli quickly appeared after I found both had run out. The freshness really stood out. We had two rooms, and liked them both: comfortable mattresses, good pillows and bedding, sparkling-clean bathrooms, and great shower pressure. Housekeeping came each day, quietly and efficiently. We only stayed for a rainy weekend, but that was enough to see how homey, clean, and well equipped the hotel is. It seemed to have everything someone might need, except perhaps its own restaurant.

The spa was a highlight, with four saunas, a nice indoor pool, and a quiet room with water beds. There was water, tea, and fruit there too. We stayed at Hotel Melanie for three nights and felt welcome from the start. The staff were so nice, our room was super cozy, and the balcony had a stunning view. We also appreciated the in-room tablet with information about Salzburg sights, places to eat, and room service. It was much more helpful than paper.

Breakfast was included, with loads to choose from: coffee, hot cocoa, a tea bar, juice, meats, cheeses, Lachs, fresh fruit, and plenty more. The bathroom had heated floors, a big bathtub, a large shower, and a double vanity. Our family’s room had been turned down for our arrival, and the terrace had a great view. The staff were great, and their dinner restaurant recommendation was perfect. It’s near the airport and not too far from central Salzburg. This is the nicest hotel we’ve stayed in Europe.
