Appartements Zell am See

We booked this place in early December 2019, and the stay was a disaster. The old furnishings were something we could have accepted, but there wasn’t a single cleaning item, not even a broom, vacuum, or dishcloth. Worse, the heating didn’t work in winter. They eventually offered a radiator as a goodwill gesture, but it was minus 5 degrees Celsius inside and out, in a 45m², three-room apartment. We couldn’t reach the landlords by phone, even when we were leaving. When we complained to the tour operator, we were met with appalling insults. Be very cautious and spare yourselves the experience. Stay away from these apartments.

There’s enough space if you’re four, but the apartment is advertised for six and feels cramped with that many. The kitchen is too small and only has two burners, and the bathroom is both small and filthy. The beds are bad, and the place is grubby and dated.

For this price in the middle of summer, it’s good value, so I can’t complain too much. The kitchen is outdated, though, and there’s a musty smell. The bedroom heating can suddenly switch on, which isn’t great when it’s 30°C outside.

Plenty of space, clean and inexpensive. It’s a classic, simple place, though a bit old-fashioned.
