Ferienhotel Sonnenhof

We had a lovely family stay at Sonnenhof. It’s been renovated beautifully, and there are great facilities for adults and children alike.

The ski bus collects you and drops you right at the door, which was great. We had one of the new rooms and really liked it, and the spa, pool, and sauna area were lovely too. The food and service were excellent. We’d definitely recommend this hotel.

We were sorry to leave Sonnenhof, and would happily come back. The hotel was spotless, the staff were lovely with the children, and the basement games area kept them happy. Our Country House suite had a beautiful blend of traditional and modern Austrian style. The pool and spa were great, though the outdoor pool felt a bit chilly to me while the kids loved it. We stayed half board, with plenty of breakfast choices and really good evening meals. Their own wine was very nice, and drinks were reasonably priced. Getting around worked well for us: the hotel is about a five-minute walk from the main lift in Zell am Ziller, and regular ski buses were handy with our five-year-old. Zell am Ziller struck me as charming and good value. It was busy in the morning during half term, as we expected, but I enjoyed it. When I skied here in mid-January, there wasn't a queue in sight. We didn't manage to explore beyond Gerlos this time because our youngest had morning and afternoon lessons, and the roughly 40-minute journey each way left us short on time to collect them. There seems to be plenty for experienced skiers, though. A brilliant holiday, and thanks to everyone at the Sonnenhof from Familie Barnard!

This was our third stay here, but the first time we booked a new apartment in the landhouse across from the hotel. What a lovely place: very clean, with a great bathroom and a balcony view. The people were friendly, service and food were good, and the outdoor pool has a lovely view, alongside an indoor Spa. It’s in a perfect spot for a holiday. Thanks for everything.
