Adelaide Pulteney Motel

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Valentine's Day because it was the only cheap hotel left, but it was nothing like the photos. The bed had strange yellow stains, there was no toilet paper, and the towels didn't look clean, so we didn't use them. The shower didn't look clean either, and I didn't feel clean after using it. We had to drive 30 minutes back home to get toilet paper and towels. The website said parking was available, but when we called after arriving, they said there was none, so we paid $25 to park a street over. Come on, no toilet paper?

We had an amazing stay, and the location was perfect. Our room was cozy, a king room with a king and single bed, a split system above the bed, a cute en-suite, a smart TV, and a mirrored double-door cupboard that was great for getting ready and doing our makeup. The TV had Evanescence and Metallica on full blast, and the lovely cleaning lady even complimented our off-key singing. We were mums from Melbourne there to see Metallica and explore Adelaide, and the brochures the motel gave us were great for showing us around. There's a pasta place upstairs where kids eat free, and pokies downstairs open until 5AM. The bar ladies made us feel welcome, as did the locals, even with our two big personalities. It was a 5-minute walk to the forest of dreams, and the servo was about a 2-minute drive away. One lesson learned: don't touch the black button under the handle in your room. Thankfully, the lovely 24 reception helped us get back into the room in the early hours. Such an experience, we'll be coming back. Thanks for the hospitality!

Good value for the location, but very budget. The property is unattended, with self check-in and a help number to call if you need it. The room was mostly clean, though there was someone else's much longer hair in the shower. There was lots of street noise too.

The room looked nothing like the photos, and there were no directions to the bathroom or shower. Once I found it, it was in such horrific condition that I chose not to shower. The place shouldn't be operating in its current state.
