Presidential Bungalow

We left a day early and didn't care about losing the money. It was awful: the place stank of cigarettes, was filthy and disgusting, and was priced like a luxury getaway. We hadn't realised this was a privately owned bungalow within the resort and not part of the resort itself. If we'd known, we wouldn't have booked. By then we couldn't switch rooms. Book through Sebel instead, as their rooms seemed good quality. This place should be condemned. Don't stay here under any circumstances.

A lovely spot right by the beach, with access to the pools and a private parking bay. There was plenty of room for our family and everything we needed. We'll be back.

The owner didn't seem to care when I sent a message through the booking agency, even with all the photos. The place needs a lot of maintenance and better cleaning. There was mould in the washing machine and on the main bedroom wall, bugs inside all the light fittings, and spiders and webs in the main shower. It looked like only the floors got cleaned and the beds made. For what you pay, you shouldn't find TV cables hanging down the wall or a couch torn open with stuffing showing in several places. On checkout morning, someone was on the roof cleaning the windows and could see straight into the bedroom. Luckily, everyone was dressed. Could this not have waited until after checkout, or could we at least have been warned?

There are some real pluses here: it's a large place with enough rooms for a family or two, and every room has a TV, air con and a comfortable bed. The dishwasher and dryer are useful extras, the alfresco area has a BBQ, and access to all Sebel facilities, including the pools, games room and gym, is good. The price felt fair for the size and what's included. Cleaning needs work. Dust, dirty flooring, bugs and webs should be dealt with before each check-in. Checkout is at 12pm and check-in at 4pm, which gives a few hours to clean properly, though at least two staff would be needed. The cleaning person we met was friendly and helpful. The consoles and cables also need checking. There were no CDs for the Xbox games, and there's no Foxtel, just digital TV. Because it's next to the bush, mosquitoes swarm around in the early evening, so be ready to deal with them if they get inside. Keep doors shut and turn off the lights when you leave in the evening. Also, the handyman seems to come into the garden, or onto the roof as another review mentioned, without knocking or warning. That's rude and should happen after checkout. Gavin, the owner or caretaker, doesn't seem too concerned about reported issues and doesn't reply, so you'll need to rely on yourself if anything goes wrong. Sebel doesn't get involved with these units.
