We stayed in Cooks Cottage, one of two neighbouring cottages, and loved the picturesque setting near the local wineries. McLaren Vale's shops and restaurants are still close by. This restored 19th century farm building is spacious, well equipped, and furnished comfortably, with good wifi. Johnny and Anne were friendly, helpful hosts, and even left a welcoming bottle of local wine. A lovely place for independent travellers.

The owners were delightful, and the cottage had everything we needed, even a hair-dryer, iron and board, and basic shower toiletries. It was super clean and so cute and cosy. We loved having the fireplace going every night. I hadn't quite expected the two cottages to be attached, and our neighbours played loud music one night. We dealt with it by pouring more wine, feeding the fire, and turning up the TV. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

We spent five days here, and the owners even checked whether we needed anything from the local shops while they were there. Such thoughtful service. The cottages are close to lots of great wineries and just a few minutes' drive from the town centre. They're a beautifully restored piece of history, with an interesting story and all the modern conveniences. On arrival there were local food supplies, including breakfast and other basics. The owners are lovely people. Do yourself a favour and stay here.

The owners are charming, and I would definitely come back to this converted cottage in lovely McLaren Vale. We appreciated the fireplaces and the modern bathroom, a nice addition to the rustic character. The setting is pleasant and the town isn't too far away. If you've been drinking, plan ahead for food: it's a short drive and delivery options are very limited.

Staying here also meant learning about the cottage and stables' history, which was a real experience. Built in 1865, the place has been carefully restored and reimagined. It's spacious, very clean, and has a fully equipped kitchen. Our hosts left some lovely personal touches for our arrival. I'd love to return and see what it's like in winter.
