Fernhurst Albury

The rooms and bathroom were huge, the value was great and the location worked well. Nothing to fault, really. It is a little dated, and getting to our room meant climbing stairs, so I took off a point. Service was just handing over a key and saying parking was anywhere there, which was fine since that's all we needed.

Across a road trip where we stayed at seven places, including Rydges, this was the best. Immaculately clean, roomy and super comfortable, with Netflix and a coffee machine. You can tell the owners care and have put their heart into the place.

The room lighting was so dim it was hard to inspect things properly, and that made the insect remains we found more upsetting. In the first room, there appeared to be bed bug remains on the mattress. I spoke to a staff member and she moved us to another room, but the lighting there was also very poor. At night it seemed cleaner, and because it was already late we stayed. In the morning we found many insect remains in the sink, though none had been there the night before. I sent photos and evidence to Booking.com, but they said they couldn't reach the property. I stayed one night, found the experience very disappointing, and definitely won't return.

The shower was relatively nice, but the beds could be better. The lighting was so dim and poor that we could hardly see anything in our room. Wifi kept disconnecting, so eventually we had to use our own data. There were lots of bugs on the floors and windows, and the noise was disturbing enough that we didn't get much sleep. I don't know how this motel has such a high rating. We wouldn't come again.
