Beachcomber Motel and Apartments Apollo Bay

After driving from Melbourne, we were exhausted and upset to find ourselves in a regular twin room with only a shower. We had specifically requested a room with a bath and spa, and have a record of that request. Given our serious health conditions, that mattered. We should have been told there were no suitable rooms left instead of being booked into the last twin room. It felt like the owner cared more about taking our money than our needs. When we asked for help and tried to sort out what they called a “difference in communication,” we got rudeness and attitude. If the owner or manager had no room with a bath or spa available, they shouldn’t have accepted payment. We would have stayed elsewhere, and we feel the owner took our money unfairly. We’re very unhappy with the service and hospitality. The room was cramped and didn’t even have a microwave. I wouldn’t recommend staying here or spending your money here. The owner should take a hospitality course, especially when running a motel in the tourism industry.

My room was so tiny there was barely space to move, and the thin walls meant I could hear my neighbours’ conversations clearly. The property feels old and tired, although the room itself was clean and comfortable. I wasn’t comfortable with the self-service check-in either. My full name was on an envelope among the envelopes for everyone else checking in that night, which didn’t feel secure given how careful we need to be with personal information. The peak-season price felt like robbery for such a small room with no service. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Mark was so helpful when I messed up the booking. He moved it twice for me. The room was clean, spacious and great, and the laundry takes no gold coins! It’s a peaceful spot, just one block back from the main street and ocean.

We arrived after check-in hours, and they’d left the key for us to find. The room was clean and decent, with the advertised amenities. We only stayed one night, but the bed moved around and was a bit uncomfortable, so we didn’t sleep much. Keep that in mind if a good bed is important to you.
