I was in a difficult spot, and Vincent's helped me get in for a week. I paid 230 on Thursday and 460 on Friday, but still wasn't given a receipt, so be careful if you pay cash. The pub manager seemed pleasant to my face, then criticized me as a guest to people at the bar. After I carefully planned my last night, I was threatened with violence and made to feel unwelcome, with doors slamming at 5am. The owner, Tony, lives there, but nothing was said or done. There was never any toilet paper in the morning either. The treatment from the pub manager and resident made me feel unwelcome at every level. The manager asked me to send bank details, which I did, but a week later there'd been no contact or effort. A bad rip-off, with no records provided.

The rooms at Ayr Hotel were clean, quiet and comfortable. The management was friendly and knew their stuff. I'd stay here again.

The bartender gave us old-fashioned service, and it was really good. The chicken parmy was the best for miles, with a huge serving for $18. Great value.

There was a lovely brunette staff member who was always polite when we'd been in. The other experience was awful. I came in for a few games of pool and asked for water because I was driving. The woman tutted, had me sign in, then asked if I wanted anything else. When I asked for change, she sighed and tutted again. I asked what was wrong, and she said it was rude to come in for water and then ask for change, and that backpackers should at least buy a bottle of something. Avoid going in if she's there unless you're prepared to be heckled or drink drive.

The bar had a friendly feel, and the location was handy, close to everything. Our room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, and the place was very clean. The staff were great too. A great stay.
