Room 15 at The Provinial hotel was fantastic, and I found the hotel majestic, comfortable, and good value for what you get. The cleaners did park their trolley right outside our door, which wasn’t a nice thing to see each time we left the room. Also, light sleepers may hear the railway crossing warning bells at odd hours. The hotel can’t do much about that. Even with those two small issues, we had a wonderful stay.

The restaurant was excellent, and I’ll eat there again. Dinner and service were 5 star: quick, well presented, with excellent staff. The rooms were spacious and clean, with comfy beds and no complaints. But the trains were a problem. I was woken at 1am by crossing alarms, then heard them every 30 minutes, so I put on white noise to cover them. They disturbed most of the night, and started again early. Two of the three of us had the same issue, though the noise you hear likely depends on the room’s location. I won’t stay there again.

We only stopped for a short stay while travelling through this lovely town, and the room left us very happy. It was tidy, clean, quiet, with a comfy bed and an excellent shower. The Provincial Hotel is a charming old building. Happy to recommend it, 5 out of 5 stars.

We loved the beautifully decorated two-bedroom suite. The beds were super comfortable, and since we came by train, the location was perfect. We’ll definitely book again.

Lola restaurant was a big bonus: we had a great dinner there one night and the best breakfast ever one morning. The apartment was lovely, large, and nicely decorated, with easy walking access to town and plenty of parking. A fantastic place to spend a few nights in Ballarat.
