Peppers Gladstone

The restaurant experience has become a real disappointment over our recent visits. We often get there around 8:00-8:30pm after travelling from Brisbane and are made to feel unwelcome. Staff have brusquely reminded us the buffet shuts at 9:00pm, then packed things down around us. Nobody offers the noodle bar, and when buffet items have run out, requests to refill them have been turned down because closing time is near. On several visits, staff have seemed quite rude. The room wasn't up to an acceptable standard this time either. There was a used coffee pod in the machine, dust all over the stovetop and benches, and no shower cap, so I had to ask reception for one. The laundry bags are now paper, and one tore as soon as I tried to use it. Saturday room refreshes also seem to happen late, from about 1:00pm onwards. I asked for clean towels and for the complimentary refreshments to be restocked. I got the towels, but the refreshments took an hour to arrive, and the coffee pods weren't replaced at all. We stay at Peppers every few months, and over our last visits we've noticed a clear drop in the accommodation, service, and restaurant standards. We're extremely disappointed with this stay. If there were suitable alternatives, we'd consider staying elsewhere. We used to enjoy coming here, and I hope this feedback is taken seriously so standards can return to what they were.
