Batemans Bay Holiday Park - Hostel

My wife and I arrived with car trouble and kept asking the staff for help finding mechanics and wreckers. We probably weren’t the easiest customers, but they made us feel at home while we sorted things out and got a lift, and helped make a stressful situation much easier. The park has a lovely, well-kept pool, great showers, always important when camping, and 12 burners worth of BBQ for cooking up a great feed. We’ll definitely stay here next time we’re in Bateman's bay, hopefully under more relaxing circumstances.

We had a great 7 day stay. The staff themselves were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, and we really appreciated their help, especially on the first day after a tow truck picked us up and drove us the rest of the way there. The facilities were just what we needed, with good bathrooms, toilets, and camp kitchen. The BBQ and pool facilities were amazing too. The park is in a great, quiet location, just a short walk into town. We’d definitely stay again. Thank you.

The cabin is small but makes good use of its space, with drawers for storage. The bunk beds are unfortunately right across from the toilet and bath. The aircon is at the entrance by the dining, living, and kitchen area, opposite the main bedroom, so it can get hot in the bedroom on hot days and nights. Luckily it rained while we were there. We could use the shared washing machine and dryer.

The bathroom was so bad we could smell a strong urine stench from the bed, about 1.5M away. We asked for it to be cleaned, but after someone came with a mop and we went to lunch, the smell was just as strong when we got back. We asked to move rooms or have the whole place scrubbed top to toe. In the end we didn't feel safe or sanitary staying there, so I asked for a refund and told the owners we wouldn't stay. They responded with aggression and poor excuses. The cabins seem so poorly put together and unkept that I think years of urine may have stained through the unsealed lino. It's far from acceptable to let anyone stay here. Abhorrent place, be warned. Update, posted the same day: the owner says in their reply that I never stayed there. My partner Sarah made the booking for 9/1/26, and we were in cabin number 25. I also have an audio recording of the owner's unprofessional conduct and words when we left, uploaded for the public to hear. This isn't a fake review. The place really is appalling. Don't even think about it.
