The spacious rooms were comfortable and much as advertised, and we appreciated having plenty of space. Reception eventually found us a tea towel, a sachet of dishwasher detergent and a chux cloth, so we could wash our coffee mugs, make toast and clean our plates. But the attention to detail was patchy. We stayed four nights and the room was serviced just once. The apartment had a sink, dishwasher, stovetop, microwave, toaster and kettle, yet there was no detergent, sponge, sink plug or tea towel, and no dishwasher tablets. There was only one teaspoon and two spoons, along with four knives and forks. No sharp knives, one plastic cooking spoon, a corkscrew, an egg slice and three rather random pots made up the cooking utensils, so there wasn’t much we could cook. The furniture is dated and a bit dinged up, and the mattresses might be due for replacement or decent toppers. One room had a torn net curtain, while another needed its curtain hooks rehung. The basics of the place are good, but it could use more care.

The pool is 1.1m deep, and parking spaces were plentiful. The room was better than average, but all four pillows on the bed were very high and only a bit softer than rock. For the price, it was okay.

The staff were attentive, friendly and always willing to help, which made the stay pleasant and memorable. I’m grateful for the wonderful hospitality. From the warm welcome at check-in to how clean and comfortable the room was, everything was excellent.

I didn’t stay at all. The room was appalling, so I left straight away, returned the key and told them what I thought. This may be the dirtiest, grubbiest motel I’ve ever booked. I don’t know who’s taken over, but they need to fix the problems because the place has gone downhill rapidly. Such a shame, as it used to be a beautiful place to stay. Best Western should take a look at some of their franchises, honestly.

It’s a short walk to the All Seasons for dinner. For the price, it’s okay and gives you a roof over your head, but it has a lot of potential and needs plenty of work, maintenance and a proper clean. You can hear everything outside and in the neighbouring rooms, and the water pressure is so-so.
