Glenella Guesthouse

Margaret, our host, stopped by to say hello. She and the other hosts were so sweet, accommodating, and lovely. Glenella made things much easier to plan, and we had no trouble getting lunch catering delivered or walking to a nearby pub for dinner. We booked the place for 30 members of our extended family during our wedding weekend, and were very lucky it could fit so many of us. The grand accommodation still felt homey, with a huge industrial kitchen, ensuites, bathrooms, and lounge spaces for everyone together or in smaller groups. Thanks for hosting us! Terence & Tiffany

Margaret gave my partner, brother, and me a warm welcome when we stayed for the UTA weekend. We had lovely chats with her and the other guests. There are so many thoughtful amenities, plus a great selection of armchairs and little nooks for reading or sharing a meal. What a beautiful place. We’d love to come back, highly recommend!

Glenella is a real gem. The owners are fantastic, and the property matches its description, maybe even exceeds it. The amenities are amazing, from the heated rooms and relaxing spaces to a very well equipped kitchen. The list goes on. We’d definitely stay again.

The room was comfortable and we slept well, even with the creaky floorboards. The bathroom is old fashioned but clean. It took a little while for the plumbing to get going, but once it did, there was plenty of hot water. You can cook in the kitchen or walk to several excellent cafes and restaurants nearby. Glenella has held onto its old world feel with antiques, period furniture, and memorabilia throughout. In the spacious front parlour, our genteel English hostess welcomed us and shared plenty of knowledge about Blackheath and the surrounding area, along with suggestions for things to do. We were shown around the guesthouse and introduced to our room and the amenities. A delightful stay that felt like a brief trip back in time.
