Mycow Accommodation Mackay

For solo travellers or couples, this is more than enough for a nightly or weekly stay around Mackay. It may not have the jumping castles and pools of bigger parks for kids, but I'd definitely stay again. Reception and grounds staff are helpful and hospitable, and the facilities are adequate and pretty tidy. It's a safe, friendly option for a short or long stay, five minutes by car from a major shopping hub and ten minutes from Mackay CBD. The location is convenient, though being near the Bruce Highway means there's road noise. You do get more used to it the longer you're there.

After five campsites turned me away at 6:06 p.m. because they shut at 6, Tom from Mycow caravan Park kindly let me in. I'm a woman backpacking alone, and that help was a huge relief. He guided me to my spot by phone, and I got to use the clean, functional amenities and kitchen, as well as the Wifi. Incredible. A huge thank you for letting me stay the night. What a great campground!

The staff were great, especially the lady at reception. Nothing was too much trouble. We ended up leaving early after my partner found a lump of poo on the ladies' toilet floor, and we left the next morning. We'd been there just over a week for work. The park wasn't bad overall, but the toilets and camp kitchen could get pretty feral. I felt for the staff, because a few people staying there showed so little respect for the place. Just dirty dogs.

The highway noise is there, though I understand there's not much anyone can do about it. Some of the permanents seemed a bit rough, and I found myself locking things away that I normally wouldn't. I just felt compelled to, though I'm not saying those people were necessarily that kind. The kitchen smelled so bad it was off-putting and felt a bit feral. Still, it was an okay stay. The spaces were a fair size, it was dog friendly, and the guy at reception was very approachable.
