The Rothbury is a fascinating old building, still full of character. I especially loved the heritage elevators. The rooms were spacious, quiet and clean, with reliable Wi-Fi. It would be incredible fully restored, though I understand the cost must be prohibitive. There is wear and disrepair, and food had been left behind by previous guests, as other reviews have mentioned. The hallway carpets smelled stale. My online check-in link eventually showed a confirmation saying I was checked in, but gave no instructions for entering the building or getting a key. It may have been a page-loading glitch or a one-off. The after-hours contact talked me through opening the lobby safe to get the key. I don't know how we would have entered the building if another guest hadn't let us in. The rest of the stay was uneventful. Parking isn't included in the booking. I booked Saturday afternoon to Monday lunchtime across the road at the Cornerstone parking lot, for $75 total.

We got to the hotel earlier than expected, and they let us into the room without any fuss. Everyone was very friendly. The room was lovely and spotless, and the location was perfect. A great stay from start to finish, and we'll definitely return.

The Rothbury Hotel is handy for exploring Brisbane, close to the CBD. If modern hotels full of tourists aren't your thing, an apartment here could be a good choice. The rooms are a little old-fashioned but clean, and the house manager was extremely kind. They gave us a five-star storytelling tour, explaining that the building was a Shell House from the 1930s, a heritage apartment made with steel beams and the first of its kind.

Gaven went out of his way to help us and tell us about the building's history, which was really interesting. The lobby and interior are stunning, with lovely 1930s art deco style. Our room was a welcome surprise for such an old building, comfortable and charming with plenty of character. We had a fantastic stay at the Rothbury Hotel and highly recommend it.

The apartment was wonderfully spacious and had everything supplied, including a kitchenette and washer-dryer combo. It was quiet, too. The entrance and lifts have lovely old-world charm. The apartment could use some paint, but I appreciated its character and all that space. We'll be back.
