NRMA Budgewoi Holiday Park

There were only two small fridges for a site with over 200 camps, which just isn’t enough. The toilets weren’t kept very well either. Cleaners came twice a day, so maybe patrons weren’t using the facilities properly. The location is excellent, and the stay was fine overall, but the amenities could use some improvement.

Lake Munmorah is such a peaceful spot, and the park is close to shops. It’s my go-to for camping, whether it’s just my partner and me or the whole family. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, the grounds are well maintained, and the toilet and shower facilities are great.

The park was reasonably well maintained during the busy Christmas period, with mostly tents and swags and touring caravans spread around, alongside a number of semi-permanent vans and cabins. Still, I wouldn’t give it a positive rating. Swimming access to the lake was severely limited by weed along the shore, and there were water quality restrictions during our stay. There were also ongoing problems with powered devices like e-bikes and scooters. Management reminded guests that e-bikes weren’t allowed, but didn’t address the many e-scooter issues. Overall, the park was OK.

The sites were large and level, with heaps of birdlife, and it was an easy walk to the pub and shops. The kids’ play area and pool were getting plenty of attention, and the woman at reception was friendly and helpful. Amenities in our section were a bit dated, though I saw evidence that upgrades were underway. Compared with a few other coastal NRMA parks where I’ve rated every aspect highly, Budgewoi is a lakeside park, with easy access to Lakes Beach if needed. It was quiet, and we enjoyed a good walk along the lake. This one was hard to review, but I’d probably stay again.
