The Q Motel

Breakfast was a highlight. The dining room was clean, there was a good choice of cereal, bread, muffins, juice and milk, and the pancake was especially good. They even had a separate gluten-free toaster, which was thoughtful for my dietary needs. Dinner from the on-site Q Thai Cuisine was delicious too. They brought hot Thai food right to the room, so we didn’t have to go out. It was presented more like takeaway than a dine-in meal, but the taste and convenience made up for that. I stayed in an older room, and although it showed some wear, it was clean and comfortable. The bed was great, the shower pressure excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was some A1 highway noise, but I still slept well. For a lower-end price, the stay felt like mid-range value.

Breakfast was the best part, especially the pancakes, which were the best I’ve ever had. The staff were really friendly, too. My room was clean, comfortable and spacious, with all the kitchenware I needed, including a microwave, kettle, fridge and cups. The toilet was small but adequate. I was only there for one night and had a great experience. Allenstown, coffee shops and Aldi are just a few minutes’ walk away.

The attached Thai restaurant was a great find, with tasty food, generous portions and affordable prices. Breakfast was included, too, so it was good value. We had plenty of room for three adults, plus a handy kitchenette, and everything was clean. The on-site manager was super helpful. A perfect stop for our fishing trip, and we’ll be back.

What a hole. The bathroom leaked into the room and left the carpet wet, and the toilet leaked too. There were rusty fittings and doorways, broken cupboard doors and switches, and hardly any lighting. The pipework also makes a loud tune when people in other rooms shower or use the toilet. This place is disgusting and badly past its maintenance. Save your money and find somewhere else to sleep.
