The best thing about it is the town location, since it’s easy to walk everywhere. The beach is technically two minutes away, but that means going out the front door, along a busy main road, and across the railway line. The pool is tiny and shaded for most of the day, and the upstairs TV only gets live commercial stations. I reported a few minor repairs and got no response. It felt pretty average for somewhere listed as “Luxury”.

The agent kept every cent after COVID cancelled the festival and the government recommended against travelling to the area. After three days on the road, we turned around to reduce our risk. The agent’s MD said she was “protecting their industry.” My wife is a midwife, and we chose to protect expectant mothers. We asked for a credit to use later and were told no. We then asked for an 80% refund, understanding they had wages to pay, and again the answer was no. We lost $10,000, and everyone I’ve told so far agrees the attitude was greedy. Credit to The Atlantic, which gave our friends credit to use later. We wish we’d booked there instead. We love Byron, but this has damaged the brand for us. We feel for the musicians and local vendors. We intended to return when it was safe, but there’s no way we’d book with Beach Houses of Byron. What a poor attitude from this business.
