The setting at Floriana is beautiful, which is why it's a shame the food and service let us down. We went for a special family meal last Friday (30.01.2026). The wait staff were nice, but seemed either very new or forgetful, and both food and drinks took a shocking amount of time. The restaurant was quiet, so there didn't seem to be a reason for such slow service. I'm not sure whether the kitchen was understaffed. I shared the charcoal roast chicken, which was very ordinary and had no flavour. I was glad I was sharing it, since my meal was being paid for. One guest ordered the Barramundi and said it was nice. If the kitchen was short staffed, customers should be told. People are more understanding when they know their meal will take longer than usual.

I went back to Floriana recently for a birthday dinner and had another fantastic meal. We’d celebrated our Christmas party there in 2025 too, with delicious food and drinks, lovely service, and a beautiful atmosphere. I’d happily recommend it for a special occasion or just a nice dinner.

The only drawback was having no guest parking on site. Everything else made for a lovely Valentine’s weekend. Our room had a stylish look with some art deco touches, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. There was even a surprise jar of lollies on the table, which was a sweet touch. We had a romantic three-course dinner that looked beautiful and tasted just as good. Our hostess and waitress was warm, smiling, and attentive, while still feeling professional and genuine. We had a great stay and hope to come back for dinner soon.

We didn’t stay at the accommodation, but you can visit the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner without being a guest. It’s tucked away along the Esplanade, away from the busy stretch, so it feels like a little Cairns find. The outdoor undercover dining area and quaint bar look great, and both the food and service were really good. The menu is simple without being overcomplicated, with a nice range to choose from.

Stephanie welcomed me for a quick lunch and found me a cool place to sit before I had to head back to work. The Nicoise salad was delicious. The venue was clean, and the service was friendly and quick. From what I tried, there’s a good chef in the kitchen. I’d consider staying at the hotel too, based on the restaurant.
