Oasis Inn Cairns

It’s a bit old, but more than good for what you pay. All the staff were kind and super friendly. I’d highly recommend this apartment to budget travellers looking for an affordable place to stay.

The pool area was lovely, and I enjoyed my swim. Late check-in was easy and appreciated. The rooms are old but clean, and the traffic noise is pretty bad.

The owner was the worst part. When I raised concerns, he got aggressive and called me a drop kick. It was completely out of line. During dinner, someone screamed about their toxic relationship over the phone, and at 7am we were woken by what sounded like a full-blown drug-fueled phone rant outside our room. Cigarette smoke kept coming through from other rooms, so it was impossible to relax. The room was disgusting, with torn-up furniture, dust everywhere, bugs crawling around, and random filth left behind, including an old sock and a hair clip. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned in ages. From the moment we walked in, the whole place felt dodgy and unhygienic, and nothing like the photos, which felt like total false advertising. We didn’t use the pool because it looked so poorly maintained that we didn’t trust it was safe. I’d rather stay in a tent. I wish I could get a refund, but I don’t want the owner to insult me a third time. Avoid this place. It felt dirty, unsafe, and loud, and the owner clearly doesn’t care about guests.

The apartment was a good size and comfortable, though quite old. It’s on a very noisy main road, and the building has two stories with no lift, which was an issue for me. The pool area was nice, but there was no handrail, also an issue for me.
