Anchorage Motor Inn

The upstairs two-bedroom units are lovely and roomy. The rooms are nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable and quiet, with no traffic noise. It’s a handy location, close to what you need and not far from the beach. The owner is extremely kind and professional, and it’s a great bonus that pets are welcome.

Room 9 was poorly kept. There were just three coffee cups and no plates or cutlery, plus two small soaps but no shampoo, so bring your own. The shower hot tap made a terrible water hammer, there was no hot tap at the sink, and the toilet had no curtain. It’s rated 3.5 stars, so don’t expect too much.

The location was great, but that was the only thing going for it. When we arrived, the manager told my husband there was no pool because it was being cleaned after too many children had been swimming in it. Our room was dark and dingy, and its condition was questionable. At least the sheets seemed clean, I think. The bathroom looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned, and the carpet badly needed vacuuming. There was no restaurant?

The staff were friendly and the room was clean, and for the price it gave me about what I expected. It’s an older motel, though, and two of the three air conditioners in our room didn’t work. The bedside clock radio wouldn’t turn off, the wall-mounted hair dryer had a burnt-out wire, and the shower took a while to heat up and had awful water pressure. If it fits your budget, you’ll probably be happy with the place.
