We were stuck waiting for our travel arrangements to work again, with an engagement in Sydney on the 12th March, and just needed somewhere to rest. The rate was very good, and we weren’t sure what to expect. A lovely young man welcomed us, showed us to our room, and was more than accommodating. There was continental breakfast in the morning. The place was very clean, though old, which I’d put down to its heritage. Later we ran into a bit of trouble, and the manager was outstanding in how much effort he put into helping us as guests. There are old artefacts and history to look at, too. The young chap, who I believe was from the Middle East, and the manager were both so helpful. You only need to ask.

The location worked really well for our drive between The Sunshine Coast and Sydney. We had a mix-up over the room types in our booking, but they sorted it out promptly and courteously. Some rooms are on the small side, while the doubles have more space, and ours was clean.

We got there at 7:30, later than planned, and the young man at check-in helped us with a smile. He was so accommodating. I’d highly recommend him.

We had the family room with bunk beds, and the bunks felt completely unstable. They wobbled and moved very easily, which seemed like a serious safety risk. The doors couldn’t be locked from inside. We could hear a TV from the neighbouring room all night, even though nobody was in there. The shower and toilet door was too small for its frame, so you could easily see inside. I wouldn’t stay here.

The staff were friendly and helpful the whole time, and the place has a lot of character. My room was spotless, right down to the bathroom and linens. It was one of the cleanest motel rooms I’ve stayed in, and you can see the staff take pride in looking after the property. I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting Taree.
