The food was tasty, and the cheesy bread and Leura Parma were both good. The coffee was nicely made and priced about what you'd expect. Service was reasonably quick, and the food arrived without a problem. The woman at the bar was lovely, too. But the fish taco tortilla was so hard in places it couldn't be cut with a knife. When I raised it, the manager brushed me off, insisted that was how it should be, then turned away while I was explaining. We didn't want a replacement, just for the chef to hear about it and for someone to confirm they'd passed it on. After the meal, I calmly explained at the bar that the manager's response had changed how I felt about the hotel. He accused me of trying to start an argument, despite my having explained my intentions. That was disrespectful and dismissive. The TV played the same short YouTube loop of Norwegian scenery the whole time, and the kids' room has very little to keep children interested, so I wouldn't bring family here for fun. The other workers were fine, but the manager ruined the visit. I've since heard others feel the same, which seems like a serious problem for the business. I won't return and will tell people about my experience. If the issues are fixed, I'd happily reconsider.

The meal itself was quite nice, but the service made this a poor first visit since the hotel reopened. After finishing my main, I waited ages to order dessert while the same young staff member seemed unsure what to do and showed little interest in serving me. She appeared more focused on listening to a conversation between another customer and a worker. Eventually I was told dessert would take 40 minutes because they were prioritising mains. The owners will lose customers quickly if staff don't engage with them.

We were glad they could fit us in at 8pm after another pub sent us to the service station for food. Lisa was warm and welcoming on the phone when we called ahead. The hotel is clean, the food was great, and it's right in the middle of town. We also popped into the nice op-shop across the road the next morning. Appreciate them making room for us. We'd gladly come back and recommend it.

The only bright spot was Grace, a staff member who was very obliging, though there was only so much she could do. The accommodation was filthy, with dirty showers and toilets, and there was no hot water at the basin in our room. The kitchen kettle barely worked, and there wasn't much else going for the place. Worst stay I've ever had anywhere. Do yourself a favour and don't stay here. JH.
