Mirage Whitsundays

The facilities made this excellent value: two pools, a gym, a bar and buffet breakfast at the restaurant were all great. The location is right by lovely paths for walking or running, plus an outdoor gym, and the service was very helpful. Our two-bedroom apartment was spacious and had a beautiful water view. There were only a couple of tiny room fixes needed, a broken toilet paper holder and shutter. Otherwise, faultless.

The shower had the best view we’ve ever had, and having a private pool for the family was such a treat. The main hotel pool was gorgeous too, and breakfast had a fantastic buffet. Check-in and check-out were easy and seamless. We stayed with family in a three-bedroom villa that felt like our own luxury home, with three spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, a full kitchen and laundry, and even a double garage. It was beautifully designed and very comfortable. The Whitsundays are hands-down my favourite Australian destination, and Mirage Whitsundays is one of the best places we’ve stayed in the region. We can’t fault it and would happily recommend it. We’ll absolutely come back.

Getting around was easy: there’s a pleasant boardwalk walk to Coral Marina, and the resort shuttle goes into town a couple of times a day, which saves driving and finding a carpark. A supermarket, liquor store and takeaways are a short drive away, or walkable if you’re energetic. The adults only pool (18 years +) was a delight, with steps and a handrail, plenty of space and a good temperature. Breakfast is complimentary, with something for everyone and barista coffee, a great start before day trips. I also had dinner at the restaurant a couple of nights and highly recommend it. The food was amazing, and the passion fruit mojitos were awesome, made with actual fruit, not syrup. My room was clean, spacious and had a gorgeous view. The only drawback was the sofa, which was worn, low to the ground and uncomfortable. Mirage Whitsundays is a fabulous resort with the features you’d expect, and right on the doorstep to the Whitsundays. What more could you want?

The villa had a great setup for getting family together, with a living room and terrace big enough for a function without space being an issue. It also had a view over the marina, a small private pool and first-class interiors. The onsite bar has a decent menu and acceptable prices for a quick bite or an evening drink. There are fancier options in town, about a 3-5 minute drive from the Mirage. We were blown away and look forward to staying again if we end up in Airlie Beach.
