Cardwell Beachfront Motel

Don't forget to bring groceries, since there's no big supermarket nearby. The location is perfect, and this motel is a real gem. Rooms are spacious and clean, the beds are comfortable, and there's even a kitchen with cooking facilities.

Right on the beach, in a gorgeous location, and we'd stay here again. We came for one night before hiking Hinchinbrook Island. The room and bed were small but had everything we needed, and the room was very clean. The outdoor balcony spaces at the front aren't very private or separated. Other guests were outside our room when we arrived, and a neighbour shouting loudly right by our door woke us early.

There's a nice cat wandering around to greet you, and each room has an outdoor table and a couple of chairs, which was great for sitting outside in good weather. Our room also had a fridge, microwave, kitchen sink and basic supplies like plates, cups and utensils. Wi-fi worked on our phones, but for some reason we couldn't stream shows on the TV. We got to experience Aussie commercials instead, which were pretty funny and as repetitive as the ones in the US. It's an older building, but clean, well priced and staffed by nice people, in a great spot by the water. Crocs live in the area, so don't plan to swim unless it's in their pool. If you don't need silk sheets or 5 star accommodation, it's a good option for a night or a longer stay.
