Joyce made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had, and the price felt like really good value. We were in Penola for a friend’s 60th birthday and had booked two nights with breakfast. It’s not a high-end place, but from the moment we walked in, it felt warm and welcoming, and the bed was very comfortable.

Right in the heart of Coonawarra country, this is a lovely place to break up the drive between Melbourne and Adelaide. Joyce is a friendly, welcoming host, and the bed is so comfortable. We’ve stayed here in summer, when breakfast was served al fresco, and in winter, when it felt nice and cosy.

Eggs and bacon waiting in the fridge and a chance to pat Buddy, Joyce’s dog, made us feel right at home. The place has a lovely country cottage feel, and Joyce is a beautiful host.
