Best Western Cluden Park Motor Inn

We stayed for two nights after enjoying several other Discovery Parks, but this campsite gives the brand a bad name and lets the Big4 chain down. From the moment we drove in, the permanent residents stared at us and felt intimidating and unfriendly, which made us feel deeply uncomfortable and unsafe. A lot of them seemed to work there, so reporting their behaviour didn't feel safe. The receptionist on Friday was lovely and helpful, but after reception closed it felt like a free for all: swarms of kids ran wild while locals got drunk, screamed and made the place hostile. When we arrived, a local's car was in our spot. Reception got him to move it, but later that night he came to our van drunk, slurring and without trousers, saying we'd taken his parking space. It made us very uncomfortable. The bathrooms were filthy, with far more bugs than you'd expect at a campsite: spiders, ants, flies, moths, cockroaches and others I couldn't identify. Each morning there were hundreds of dead flies around the sinks. We had no hot or even mildly warm water until the second evening, so the showers were ice cold before then. Both evenings we went across to Fairfield just to avoid being at the campsite. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this was disgusting and, more importantly, felt very unsafe. I wouldn't want anyone else in the same position. From the other reviews, management seem to give the same generic response to complaints, but if this stops even one person booking here, I'll be glad.

Kelly and the ladies at reception made our group of 12 feel so welcome and accommodated us beautifully. Love the nails, Kelly 💅🏻☺️ We flew in from Sydney, and it was our family's first time in Townsville. I'm so glad this was the first place we stayed, because now it's the only place we'll choose when we travel here. The pool and water slides were fantastic for the kids and us adults, lol. Most of us stayed in the motel rooms and were impressed by how spacious they were. We've told all our family about DPT, and we'll definitely be back soon. My true rating is 10/10. Thank you a million times over.

I called yesterday to book at Discovery Parks – Townsville and spoke with Naomi. She was lovely, incredibly friendly and polite, and handled everything efficiently. The whole process was quick and easy, and it was a pleasure dealing with someone so helpful. Customer service like that really makes a difference. Thank you, Naomi!

My husband became ill on the last day of his work trip in Townsville. His flight wasn't until 3 pm, even though checkout was at 10 am. Reception were very lovely and let him check out late to allow for his illness and flight time.
