Caribbean Motel

We were very disappointed with this motel. It advertises itself as newly renovated, but the manager said the work was done three years ago. That felt misleading and unprofessional. The room was stuffy, and leaving the door ajar was the only way we could get air in, which also let in mozzies and bugs. The manager said they didn’t have mozzies, but I showed her that they did. This was called a family room, but I can’t see a family staying there for days. The bathroom was tiny and the bed was awful, with springs sticking out on the window side. One caught my husband as he got out of bed. The lounge was worn and had cobwebs on it. The room also didn’t meet my needs as a disabled person, and we felt they weren’t listening. There’s no room service unless you ask for fresh towels or for the room to be made up, and then they only do it after a five-day stay. The information is on a small sign at reception, but this should be explained when booking in. At check-in, we asked whether we could get a refund for the next two nights if the room wasn’t comfortable and were told it was too late. That wasn’t correct, as we’d given 24 hours’ notice. We don’t usually book online, but this was a last-minute trip. We paid $258 for the first two nights and $215 for the third, which wasn’t worth it. We meant to talk to management before leaving, but they weren’t open when we were checking out.

What stood out first for my husband and me was how clean everything was. The bathroom, balcony, and kitchenette were all great. The motel’s well located near eateries, SPAR, the Jetty, Muttonbird Island, and the beach. My only suggestion is to provide some firmer pillows, especially for people who have to travel light. I’ve still given it five stars because everything else was great.

My family and I had a really nice stay at the Caribbean Hotel. The room was neat and comfortable, and the staff were respectful and friendly. They gave us directions and told us when nearby coffee shops were open. The beach and Carnival are only a five-minute walk away. A great motel for a short family holiday, I highly recommend it.
