Allambie Motel

I only booked because my usual place was full, and I won't spend $120 a night here again. The mattresses, both single and queen, need replacing, and I had a terrible night's sleep. The bar fridge rattled all night, while the shower extraction fan sounded like a 747. The old square air conditioner was very noisy too. Its filter was so clogged it looked like carpet; I cleaned it and it ran a little better, but was still too loud to sleep with. My first room, room 10, had no hot water even after I let it run for 10 to 15 minutes, and its door security chain hadn't been replaced. They moved me to room 16, where the hot water worked. The toilet seat was loose and needed repair. There was no bedside lighting, and the wires where the lights should have been were taped up and exposed for a child to play with. Mine did. The Allambie could be brought back to life, but it needs urgent work and money spent on it. I stayed a couple of nights a few nights ago. Don't expect the Hilton, it's ordinary.

The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and having towels changed every day during my two-week work stay was a nice surprise. It's an older motel, but my room also had a small fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, and there's laundry on site. The main street, IGA and coffee shops are all within walking distance.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. In room 10, neither bedhead light worked, one was broken and the other had no globe.

We were new in town after travelling from Queensland and hadn't realised food wouldn't be available after a certain hour. While we were looking for a motel, the owner pulled up beside us, tried to help and directed us to her motel. The service there was great, and the manager was easy to talk to. He even brought out enough food for dinner and breakfast to see us through until the shops opened the next day. Leane and Mich were both so caring and understanding. We can't thank them enough for their kindness, and we'll stay there again if we're in the area.
