Boulevard Towers

I stayed for a week in Floor 15_ 56. The apartment was tidy, clean and had everything needed. Check in with Patrick was a pleasure: professional but down to earth, and he shared some great fishing spots. He was a real gem. Thanks for having me, and see you in winter for the Tailor run.

The pool area was great, and the kids loved the mini tennis court. Having direct access to the pool from the ground floor apartment, no 1, was handy. The location is fantastic, directly opposite the beach and a short walk from shops and dining. But the side gate to the street wouldn't lock, so anyone could get in and small kids could get out. Inside, the apartment was worn and not very clean. I had to wipe the drawers before using them, and under the furniture was pretty grim. Pipes behind the walls made lots of plumbing noises, and garden tidy up outside was noisy before 7am. For a family of 5 staying 5 nights, there were no pantry basics, just 2 toilet rolls, 1 sachet each of washing up liquid and washing powder. The biggest issue was the large scale construction next door at 118 Old Burleigh Road, a 24 level project. There was noise from 6am and jack hammering from 7am throughout the day. I wish we'd been told when booking, or at least before arriving, so we could decide whether to stay. It's not due to finish until July 2027, so I doubt we'd return while it's going on.

The location is epic, but the building feels tired and lacking. We paid a premium for an average apartment, and the aircon units didn't work. After moving to another apartment, we found old decor and a dirty room. There was little communication before booking. The after hours service didn't understand my booking, and gave no instructions for getting the keys or reaching customer service. I'm really disappointed with the price and what we received. This was a special weekend for my family, and all that's been done to resolve it is a measly “Sorry”.

The reception was helpful, and the location is so good that I'd strangely give it another go. The apartment was bright, lovely and quiet for somewhere on the esplanade, with great views and coffee shops an easy walk away. But it needs paint and a good clean. There were no extras, and no jug, which I reported, only to be told to use a saucepan on the stovetop. It seemed like there'd been no maintenance, with dead appliances throughout that needed throwing out. The ironing board was torn and thin, with deteriorated foam, though the iron itself was good. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. There were two small bars of soap, one sachet each of washing up liquid, dishwasher powder and clothes detergent, one tea bag and 4-5 coffee sachets.
