Check-in service was great, and it’s a convenient location within walking distance of takeaway food and groceries. But room 17 didn’t feel like a $150+ a night stay. The door jammed against its frame and didn’t seem to latch securely, so I used the chain bolt for peace of mind. The bathroom window was open when we arrived. Once I shut it, the drains smelled awful, especially the spa bath drain, so we had to keep the bathroom door closed overnight to stop the smell spreading through the room. There were also a few ants in the bathroom, with a can of insect killer in the wardrobe.

The room was spacious, but had an odd smell, and there was visible mould in the bathroom. The person at reception was quite unwelcoming when I checked in. A very disappointing stay.

The staff were friendly when we arrived, and the room was warm, cozy, very clean, and comfortable. The beds are new and especially comfortable. It’s been tastefully decorated and recently painted, and the location is very quiet. The shower was awesome. I’d definitely stay again.

I’d urge future guests to photograph and video the room and bathroom both when checking in and leaving. What happened to us felt unfair and unprofessional, and I won’t return. I’d be very cautious about staying here. We were at Kinross Inn on August 2-3 with friends. When we checked out at 8:30 AM, the room and bathroom were in good shape. A friend checked everything again and left the used towels near the sink. Nothing was damaged then. About four hours later, hotel staff called and accused us of breaking the sink. They said the cleaner found it broken at 12:30 PM, and that a staff member had been in at 8:45 AM to remove the sheets and towels but somehow hadn’t noticed any damage. The photos they sent as “evidence” were taken after cleaning, not before, so they don’t show that we caused it. We tried to explain, but the hotel held us responsible and charged an extra $200, on top of the $575 we’d already paid for a basic room with two single beds and one double bed. The bathroom door also had no proper lock and was almost falling off, which points to the poor state of the facilities. When we phoned the manager, he first said he’d “investigate.” Later, with no further discussion or proof, he blamed us outright and hung up.
