Daintree Riverview

Elena and Mike made us feel so welcome. Their warm hospitality, and even just chatting with them, was a highlight of our holiday. Mike is also a knowledgeable and hilarious guide on the croc tour, which is informative, personal and fun thanks to the small groups. It’s brilliant even if you aren’t staying. The lodge is comfy, spotless and beautiful, with breathtaking views that made for a tranquil stay even in the rain. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked, a great spot to relax and look for crocs in the river below. The van park looked great too, with good facilities. Highly, highly recommend, actual paradise.

Michael took us out for a river cruise, and the one-hour trip turned into 2.5 hours. His stories and detailed knowledge kept us absorbed the whole way, from the environment to crocodile and bird habitats. He was so generous with what he knows, and clearly loves the area. We’d recommend the tour to anyone interested in crocodiles, snakes or birds. We’ll be back. Victoria and John

I paid the next morning before heading off for a croc tour. At $17 for an unpowered site, it seemed good value and I’d stay again. I arrived late in the afternoon in my campervan and nobody was at reception. I first parked down by the river, then moved to the upper area near the toilets and kitchen. The outdoor kitchen is small, with a roof, two tables, a two-burner gas stove, microwave, kettle, and a few pots and pans. The bathroom was clean, though one shower had a hole where a cane toad was living.

We felt at home straight away. The host is a very kind older man, welcoming and clearly LGTBI-friendly. His husband and he seem like a lovely couple, and we really felt their warmth and openness. Highly recommended!
