The Palms Dubbo

The location worked well for us, with shops in walking distance and plenty of fast food close by, so we’d stay again. It’s an older hotel, though it looked clean, the bed was comfortable, and staff were pleasant. The busy road and 24-hour service station across from it brought some noise into the night.

The pool was kept in good shape, and the TV had a nice range of streaming services. My room was clean and tidy, and getting to the shops was easy. I really enjoyed my stay.

It was handy being so close to things, and the pool was a nice extra. The room was neatly presented, and the bathroom had been renovated in a way that looked good.

We chose this place on our Brisbane to Melbourne drive because reception said the pool had recently been cleaned, and that mattered with a five-month-old in the summer heat. But it was green when we got there, and staff said they had swept leaves from the pool area that morning. That didn’t address the water, so we couldn’t swim. The room had a small kitchen area with a microwave, toaster and kettle, but no plates or cutlery, so it wasn’t self-contained as described and we had nothing to eat dinner with. We arrived late, after reception had closed, so we couldn’t ask for help. The motel is on the main road and was noisy overnight, and the room didn’t look like the website photos. We’d stopped here last week, and the stay was disappointing.
