Aloha Apartments

The pool area was kept decently, and our room was big with air conditioning. The kitchen and bathroom were mouldy and the room could’ve been cleaner. There weren’t many appliances or cleaning supplies, and when we asked for more, we were flat out told no. It was an average stay, but the price reflects it, especially with other apartments nearby costing a solid $1-2k more. If you just need somewhere near the centre of Surfers Paradise to crash while going out partying and drinking, it’s okay.

The one bedroom apartment was a good size, with a comfortable bed, a decent kitchen, and a washing machine in the room. The location was great, and the place has a lot of potential. But it was really dirty: hair on the floor, grime in the shower, and dirty walls, windows, and cutlery. The shower step down was seriously dangerous, about 12 inches to the ground. The old fittings were falling apart. There’s a $300 bond, so take photos when you leave, and parking costs $30 a day.

Aloha is less than 100 metres from Trickett Street. From Secure Parking at Paradise Centre on Hanlan Street, cut through the centre, cross Hanlan St and go through the Beachcomber. Parking there is $30 for up to 24 hours after the first five hours. I stayed 15 February 2026. It’s an older place, but, in my opinion, central to everything that makes a GR8 break in Surfers Paradise. The room was surprisingly nice and clean, with all the facilities you might need, except knives, forks and spoons, so pack those if you’ll need them. The pool was GR8 and the sauna was so bloody good. I’m not a big fan of “No Reception,” which Aloha has, but everything else was GR8. This morning it was “Aloha” to Aloha Apartments, then off home to Brissy. I’ll be back.

The woman who served us was lovely, but we probably won’t return. Four of us stayed over the weekend, and the apartment needs major upgrades. The bathroom reeked of urine, so we had to keep the door shut. The beds were hard as rocks and so uncomfortable that I woke with major lower back pain. There was no air conditioning, so we left the windows open all weekend, and the sheets smelled like they hadn’t been changed. Curtains were coming off their rails. It’s a shame, because with some maintenance this could be a really nice apartment, but I can’t think of much good to say about it.
