We’ve just left Surfers Horizon, Palm Beach, after a fabulous stay. The apartment was beautifully appointed and had everything, plus more, than we needed. Mike and Lara were wonderful hosts and couldn’t have done enough for us. Thank you for your hospitality, we’ll definitely be back.

The grounds were beautifully maintained, and the BBQ and pool were amazing. The beachfront location was lovely, but there’s nothing nearby, so you need a car. After three stays, this was definitely my last. We were in apartment 27, a three-bedroom deluxe unit, though there was nothing deluxe about it. It was in original condition. I was told the kitchen was new, but the cupboard doors were poorly painted, they’d added an upper white cabinet for some reason, and the very old benchtops needed replacing. The bathrooms were original too, with disgusting-looking grout. The downstairs shower screen was coming away from the bath. I photographed it straight away and reported it, only to be told it hadn’t been like that at the last check. I had a feeling that would happen. I understand that not every apartment is modern or updated, but surely people can expect it to be clean. There’s an air conditioner in the downstairs lounge, but only fans in the two downstairs bedrooms, and those rooms get very hot. With the windows open, you hear half the Gold Coast running and talking along the lane behind the building from 5am, as if it’s midday. There are no lifts, so it’s up and down three flights of stairs every time you go out. It was a very disappointing and expensive stay in an apartment that was probably lovely 20 years ago. Look around, there are plenty of other places to stay.

This was my second stay at this great accommodation. It’s quiet and right on the beach, with a brilliant spot to watch the sunrise and surfers catch waves. Deb gave us great customer service and went above and beyond. We’ll be back.

The views were lovely, the kitchen and bathroom were good, and the BBQ area was good too. The pool was nice and clean, parking was difficult even at the best of times, and the price was good for what you get. I’d give the place 9 out of 10 overall. The stairs were too much for me; maybe an elevator could have been installed when it was built. The rooms were nice, but I wish we could have had two separate rooms because my roommate snored. If you’re elderly, perhaps book a lower floor if you can.

The location is amazing, right on the beach. The rooms are okay for the price, though a few more blankets would have helped in winter. The air conditioning and heating worked fine.
