Red Star Apartments

I booked a quick Tuesday night getaway for myself, a top floor room with one queen bed, and appreciated being able to check in at 10am on 27/1. The price was great, the staff friendly, the bed comfortable, and the room clean. The air conditioning was quiet and the pool was great. The shower door had water stains, though, and the tiled floor could use a proper scrub. It's an older place with character. I've booked two self contained units for August and look forward to coming back. I'd recommend it.

The staff were lovely and always greeted us with a smile. They happily lent us plates and utensils. We did have to ask for room service, otherwise the room was left as it was apart from fresh towels, which is what happened on our first night. The hotel is close to lots of shops and restaurants, which was great. Our room was generally clean and the beds were comfortable, though it was just okay overall. The bathroom layout was odd, with no door at the sink area, and the toilet and shower space was so tight that the shower door could hit the bathroom door. Doors from other rooms banging could be noisy too. WiFi wasn't great, the guest laundry had no light and was really dark at night, and parking was tight so you have to be careful. We appreciated that laundry detergent was provided. It felt more like a motel than a hotel.

We have stayed twice and highly recommend the facility. The staff provided excellent service, and our two bedroom apartment was very clean, comfortable, and came with on site parking. Beaches, cafes, and other places are close by. Across the road, walking tracks offer fantastic ocean views.

The location is great and the staff are friendly, but the rooms were dirty, with black mould across the shower ceiling and in the grout. The beds were rock hard and really uncomfortable. Both kids came out of the pool with burning eyes and skin, so it needs to be checked. Definitely not worth 300 a night.
