People should check the status of the over-50s lifestyle village, especially the dozens of couples who expected to move into their retirement homes. Nearly two years ago, many of us paid deposits for the planned stage 1 development. Then, two weeks ago, we got a phone call saying the company had cancelled stage 1 and would return our deposits within a day. Management had told us we'd be moving into the village sometime this year. Some of us had already sold our homes and were renting or staying with family in preparation. This is a disgraceful situation for everyone affected, and it leaves us wondering what happened and where we go from here. Two years wasted. Thanks for nothing.

Just to clarify, we live here, and it's a lifestyle place, not a retirement village as some people call it. There's a big difference, and it has the benefits you'd expect from a lifestyle community: security, amenities, and social interaction. Goolwa is within walking distance. There's also fishing, a boat ramp, and caravan storage. It has everything you could want.

The amenities look terrific, and it seems like an awesome place for a lifestyle community. It's just a bit too far for us, since our family and friends are in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

The River Murray is within walking distance, and Goolwa is 3 km to the west. Lakeside Goolwa, at the corner of Banfield Rd + Noble Ave, offers gated retirement living with gardens. The build is nearly complete, with 7 houses still to be built. There's a central community hall with reception.
