Innisfail City Motel

The biggest hassle came after we checked out. I tried repeatedly the following week to sort out the double charge and give them a chance to fix the stay, but got no response by phone or email. I had to dispute it with my bank, and the extra charge was only reversed two months later. I would NOT recommend this place. Save your money, time and sanity. Stay away. The booking trouble began before we arrived for the Innisfail Annuals weekend. The motel website froze midway through booking. When I refreshed it 30 minutes later, we’d been charged twice. I called straight away and was told the refund would happen “when the manager gets back.” Apparently the manager must still be on holidays. I’d also checked by phone that we could come early to get the key and park. We arrived to an unattended site, a phone number taped to a window, and repeated unanswered calls. Eventually someone picked up and said they were too busy, so we’d have to wait for a lockbox code “later.” Later came without a message. After more relentless ringing, and worrying we might sleep in the car, we finally got the code. When we returned from the races, we picked up the key and opened the room. The website photos looked like they must have been taken around 1973, when the place was new. The room was dated and hot, and the old box air con rattled like it was fighting for its life. There were no towels at all, not even a face washer. With no staff onsite and the phone practically a prop, we dried ourselves with emergency travel towels from the car. Glamorous. At checkout, it was just drop the key in the box and run. I stayed here for the Innisfail Annuals weekend and can safely say, never again.
