The Lodge Jamberoo

The pool is awesome, the sauna was great, and our room was clean. The recent renovation looks gorgeous, completely different from before. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was amazing. The staff were very nice, though you could tell they were still green and have room to improve. They did try hard. Our wine order took a while, and we started our main meal without it. When we asked them to check, they apologised and removed it from the bill, which we hadn’t expected but appreciated. There’s lots to do nearby, and I think this could become a great getaway and wedding spot. We’ll definitely be back!

The grounds are pretty, with a summer-camp feel like something from a movie. The rooms are basic and functional, very no-frills, and seem better suited to families with kids than couples. There’s a nice pool, plus swings, a spa, climbing wall and tennis court. We were happy with our stay.

I usually don’t write reviews, but people should know how bad our experience was. We booked a “King” room, only to find two mattresses pushed together to make a king bed. I’ve travelled all over the world and never had that happen before. Cleanliness seemed neglected. The room looked like it had been cleaned in a rush, the sheets smelled bad, and the swimming pool couldn’t be used. After hours, there was no way to reach hotel staff. The next morning, the staff member was completely rude and unwilling to listen to what we had to say. I’d never go back, even if they offered a free stay.

Donna was especially helpful, and nothing was a hassle for her. The staff were very friendly, the rooms clean, and the grounds great. The pool, tennis courts, climbing wall and swings were all good for the kids, making this a great family spot for our two-day stay. The resort definitely needs some TLC, but we’ll come back and hope to see improvements. Good luck to the new owners, I’m sure you’ll do what needs doing.
