I’m here for a few months on a FIFO work roster and it’s been fine. The staff are helpful, the queen bed is comfy, and the room does the job. Meals are a good standard, with buffet breakfast and dinner, plus the option to pack lunch.

The booking required a $100 deposit that wasn’t mentioned when I reserved. It was taken from our bank account straight away, and the refund apparently takes 3-5 business days. We also had no housekeeping during the stay. At 8:30am on checkout day, while I was asleep, a staff member walked into the room. There were no do not disturb signs. She said checkout was at 10am, which I already knew, and after I pointed out it was only 8:30, she left. I felt pushed to pack and go. The apartment’s access felt unsafe. There’s plenty of parking and entrances from the Main Street and rear alleyway, but no security gates, so it’s open on both sides. Locals wandered through at night, peering into rooms and people’s cars. One evening a man tried to take our personal items as we walked back, and I was watched getting out of my car and heading to the room. With a 10 year old child, it didn’t feel like a safe place to stay. We booked the executive apartment for three nights. Check-in was pleasant, and the staff were friendly and informative, but the apartment didn’t live up to its name. It felt very dated and uncomfortable, with flimsy furniture and very lumpy beds. The TV was old, so we couldn’t access online streaming in the evenings. The kitchen had basic utensils, but a note said guests must wash their own dishes or pay a $50 cleaning fee. That’s understandable, though many dishes had been left dirty by previous guests. The bathroom had been updated compared with the rest of the apartment, but its cabinets showed water damage. The shower design and poor drainage caused major flooding, and we had to use towels to mop up the water on the floor.

Those loft beds are a dumb setup. The steps need non-slip material, especially for getting to the toilet at night.

The rooms are spacious, and the buffet breakfast is a big draw for me and my family. I’ve stayed twice now, mainly because Cullen gives such fantastic customer service. The motel itself does look outdated, though.
