The Meyers House - Accommodation

We'd booked through bookings.com, but on arrival saw what looked like an old brothel frontage on Hays Street. When I rang the mobile number, the woman said she wasn't taking bookings and was very unhelpful. We then spent the next few hours looking for somewhere to stay in a busy mining town.

We arrived to find she had no rooms and was cancelling our booking, along with two others she hadn't contacted either. We'd booked and received confirmation, then I called two days before to check the check-in time. Nobody answered or called back despite my message. The customer service was extremely poor. I'm not sure how a business can be run this way.

We arrived in Kal at 10:30 pm with nowhere to stay because of a mix-up with our booked accommodation. I made a panicked call at 11:30, and Bruna took us in and even offered us a much-needed cup of tea. I love Bruna and Bob. They have hearts of gold, and we're forever grateful.

There's a shared kitchen and a cool deck by the pool, plus free washers and dryers. The place is right in the centre of town, clean, quiet, safe, and has a friendly, homely feel. Bruna, Michael, and the staff are doing a great job. Don't expect a big five-star room, but I slept wonderfully and will stay again next time I'm back. Thanks, Bruna.
