Cattrall Park Motel

The rooms are pretty dated, with rusty floors. Mine had a hole in the floor covered by vinyl, and the shower head was almost completely clogged with limescale. I don’t like that there’s no reception and everything is handled by mobile phone, though they do respond fairly quickly. Parking is reasonably good, but it’s also the pub parking. It’s an okay hotel if you’re here for work, close to shops and just a few metres from the tavern, which could be a plus or a minus.

There were dust balls across the floor, and the skirting and trims were coming away in several places. The bin lid was broken off and dented, the sheets were tarnished, and the towels had more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. My room’s floor had sunk from shower water damage, and the shower tiles have apparently been broken for at least four years, judging by other people’s reviews and photos. I didn’t feel clean during my stay. Do yourself a favour and choose somewhere else.

I looked around room 13, then walked out and booked somewhere else. The kitchen was mouldy, dirty-looking and falling apart, and the bathroom was disgusting, like the rest of the room. A floorboard had snapped in half. When I lightly stood on it to see if it was safe, it caved in a bit and cockroaches came out. The sliding door looked ready to fall out, and the wall skirting had come apart.

I was in room 12. Two sections of the floor had collapsed, the sliding door looked ready to fall out, and rust was eating the place apart. Being a mining town isn’t a reason to let a place deteriorate like this. It should be condemned. If zero stars were an option, that’s what I’d give it. Seriously, boycott this place.
