BASE Holidays - Ettalong Beach Premium Apartments

We booked the family room at the last minute for one night, with four adults and two young kids. It was the most affordable option we'd found. The motel is very basic and quite dated, but the location is amazing, right across from the beach and attached to a cafe, with shops, restaurants and a playground very close by. We had a significant problem with the beds, which wasn't ideal. The staff dealt with it quickly and in a very guest-focused way. Problems happen, and how they're handled matters, so four stars from us. 👍🏼

I've been coming back for three years and still love this motel. The upstairs rooms have fabulous views across the water, and the shops, cafes and Diggers Club are just around the corner. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with a lounge, table and chairs, microwave and toaster. There's also an onsite cafe with outdoor seating, open Thursday to Sunday. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I just love the place.

The view is amazing, and aside from the La Niña weather, it was a welcome, hassle-free break. Wendy kindly honoured my booking from more than a year and a half ago. The room had everything I needed: kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge, cutlery and dining sets for two, plus quiet air con, wifi and television. The room and bed were clean and fresh, and the pillows felt so new and comfortable that I ordered the same ones online. The shower had great hot water pressure, and the toilet was clean. Thank you.

My wife and I paid $275 a night for a queen room and stayed three nights. There was no cleaning during our stay, and no offer to clean. We got bath towels but no hand towels or shampoo. The fridge was broken, with its handle attached by screws. For this high rate, we expected better conditions and some kind of service, but there wasn't any. Jennifer handled the booking and was also the receptionist, manager and sometimes cleaner. The reception desk was often unattended, so we had to contact her by phone. Although the window faced the street and ocean view, it wouldn't slide to the position where it should lock open. A chain had been added to hold it slightly open, leaving very little space. Think twice before booking here.
