Salt on Kings Apartments

The location was excellent, the price was great, and they were very accommodating. We were pleased with the stay overall, but the apartment could use a little TLC. The fridge had mouldy seals and was dirty beside and underneath, and the carpets were in pretty poor shape. A good clean could freshen things up. The appliances were rusty, perhaps from the salty air, but replacing those cheaper items would improve how the place looks and feels. The iron leaked water, so it wasn’t user friendly. That seems like another easy, inexpensive replacement.

We haven’t even stayed yet and it’s already been a poor experience. This “budget” accommodation costs about the same as similar places in the area, but the small print says linen isn’t provided, even bath mats. They only make that clear after you’ve paid, in the booking confirmation. I contacted Carol at Caloundra Holiday Centre, who was no help at all and seemed concerned only with getting commission from the owner. Avoid Salt on King’s unless you’re happy to bring your own things for the holiday.

The apartment was clean, felt safe and was close to the beach. But the allocated parking space is awful. I can’t believe a three bedroom unit gets only one space.

The spot is nice, but there was very little atmosphere. The drinks menu was limited, there was no mineral water on tap, and the live music was average.
