CBD Apartments Launceston

The hot water was the only real positive in our one-bedroom stay at CBD Apartments Launceston. The place fell well short of its advertising, both in the written description and the photos, despite the high rating it boasts. There was no coffee table, alarm clock, or iPod dock, and the compendium with maps mentioned in the check-in email wasn’t there. A heater’s remote and manual were provided for the bedroom, but no heater, so it was freezing at night. The supposedly soundproof windows let us hear someone in the next room, and the front door rattled in the wind until we wedged cardboard into it. We only got parking information at check-in. Our hire car wouldn’t fit without risking damage. Hygiene was the worst of it: dirty cups in the cupboard, dirt on the desk, a washing machine that reeked of mould, and a revoltingly stained sofa bed. The photos speak for themselves, and we had to buy a cover just to sit on it. We tried contacting management the day after check-in. The phone was rarely answered and couldn’t take messages, the supplied email bounced because the inbox was full, and virtual messaging didn’t work either. We couldn’t cancel or request a refund.

We’re having a lovely two-night stay so far. The accommodation is really good, right in the middle of the CBD and close to everything. Check-in was easy, and they’ve been very responsive. Alex n bec sound like wonderful people. Definitely coming back, and support your locals.

The location is great, and the door code and WiFi both worked well. The rest was disappointing and felt far too expensive for the service and quality. Maintenance seemed needed throughout: chairs were loose and unstable, the quilt was dirty and yellowish, some bulbs didn’t work, and the old fridge froze our food. There was also a strange tobacco smell when we arrived.

The apartment looked really nice and was in good condition, and the location was handy, close to town but quiet. Still, it felt overpriced for what we got. The spare mattress was pretty rancid and rough, one bin hadn’t been emptied, and there was no dishwashing liquid. The TV stopped working halfway through, even though the remote was fine.
