Elphin Motel & Serviced Apartments

The spa bath was a real highlight, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The rooms feel modern and cosy, with very comfortable beds. It’s clean and feels safe, and the staff are always welcoming. Our favourite place to stay in Launceston. Can’t wait to come back ☀️

The apartment felt unsafe and poorly serviced, and we had a very bad experience with the staff. They charged us $50 for opening the door at 6:30 pm so we could eat in a friend’s room next door. We were also charged $50 for a supposedly missing key, even though we handed both keys to reception. Then they charged us over a little rubbish, despite this being a serviced apartment. Our family and our friends’ family both had money taken from our accounts. There were other serious problems in the room. Around midnight, the curtains came down while children were there and hit my daughter on the head. The bathroom towels had brown marks and smelled disgusting. A sign asked us to leave used towels on the floor for cleaning, but none of them were cleaned, and neither were our room or our friend’s room. The staff were disgustingly rude. This was the worst apartment I’ve stayed in, and I wouldn’t recommend it for a holiday or a temporary stay. It was nasty and ridiculous, and I wouldn’t want a family to have to deal with this kind of environment. 🤮🤬

The apartment itself was renovated, comfortable and clean, with on-site parking and a good location within walking distance of the supermarket. Once other guests quiet down, it’s a very quiet place. The trouble is how much sound carries between apartments. We could hear the people next door talking and even going to the toilet. From our ground-floor unit, the noise overhead was so loud it felt like elephants stomping on the ceiling. A family with kids ran around yelling for hours, and at 10 pm I politely asked them to quiet down because it felt as if they were in our room. It was hard to relax or sleep, almost like noise torture. Maybe management could mention at check-in that sound carries and ask guests to be considerate. With better soundproofing, these apartments would be great. Without the noise issue, I’d rate it 4/5.

I spent a week at Elphin Serviced Apartments, Launceston, and was really disappointed by the lack of basic service. The room cleaning was particularly poor. After I asked for housekeeping repeatedly over six days, someone finally came, stayed only a few minutes, did no cleaning, replaced no toiletries, made no bed, and emptied no bins. She left and never came back, and nobody followed up. I also had to ask several times for fresh towels, but none were provided for six full days. When I finally raised it again after nearly a week, staff casually said each towel would cost $5. Clean towels should be a basic necessity, especially during a week-long stay in a serviced apartment, not an extra charge. For the price, this was extremely poor service. I shouldn’t have to chase basic cleaning and towel changes. The staff seemed careless and unprofessional, and no one took responsibility for the inconvenience. I’d urge future travellers to think twice about booking Elphin Serviced Apartments, Launceston. There are better nearby options where guests are treated respectfully and get proper hospitality. My stay was inconvenient and nowhere near the expected standard. I
